Pride Beyond Pride With Ada Swärd

The Hued Collection features our Bold case in three vibrant colours and a new distinctive detail. NUDIENT is committed to support the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community and have therefore partnered with OutRight Action International, an organisation working at a global and national level to abolish the persecution, inequality, and violence that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTIQ+) people face in all corners of the world.

We are joining them in empowering a global movement to address the above-mentioned challenges and we are thereby donating 50% of the proceedings generated from the Hued Collection to OutRight International for them to work towards a shared purpose: equality of LGBTIQ+ people around the world. The campaign will run all year long to ensure we are continuously involved.

In an interview, Ada Swärd gave us exclusive insight on her life story, what pride means to her and what companies can do to build a more inclusive environment.

“To get to the point of where I am today has taken me a long time and lots of work. My sense of self confidence and love for myself is nothing I haven’t had to struggle with. A big part of my adult life so far has been colored by my fashion studies at Beckmans where I met some of the best people. An environment where I got the opportunity to develop and learn more about gender studies which resulted in me taking my first step into my transition.”

“Pride is so important to me. It’s so much more than parades, parties and all the fun. It’s a movement, a fight that trans women of color such as Marsha P.Johsson, Silvia Riviera , Miss Major Griffin-Gracy and Stormé DeLarverie started to fight for the LGBTIQA+ community’s rights. It’s what has gotten us this far and the fight is far from over. So to me, pride is all about mentality. It doesn't just exist during pride month, it’s an ongoing battle we’re fighting for everyday of every year.”

“Companies need to start including LGBTIQA+ individuals in every conversation. Don’t solely include LGBTIQA+ individuals when it suits the company and the branding, such as during pride month. Hire us and include us in every layer of the company. In the workplace, don’t make statements about a sexual orientation or gender identification of an employee. Instead, be open.”

We are joining OutRight International in empowering a global movement to address the above-mentioned challenges and we are thereby donating 50% of the proceedings generated from the Hued Collection to be used with a shared purpose: equality of LGBTIQ+ people around the world.
